How to make a burlap banner with vinyl lettering

Weddings and other festivities often prompt us to dig deep in the creative basket and make something handmade for ourselves or someone special. This gorgeous wedding banner is just that - a beautifully hand-created banner that adds a special touch to any festivity, may it be a wedding, a birthday party or anniversary.

To get started, you will need:

  • Burlap fabric
  • Vinyl Decal Letter outlines
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic white paint
  • Paint brush or paint roller
  • Twine
  • Fabric flowers - or other decorating items
  • Ruffled lace if desired (glue gun recommended)

Firstly, cut the burlap fabric into into same sized squares, triangles or cut to any desired shape.

Now stick the vinyl letter outlines onto each burlap fabric.

Use a brush or paint roller to paint the white acrylic paint. Be generous with the amount of paint as you really want it to show up and be solid and bright.

Let dry and then remove the vinyl from the burlap.

You should now have a nice, solid letter on your burlap.

Weave the twine through the burlap, approx. 4-6 cm apart, aprox. 2cm from the top. Do this for all letters to get them all in line.

You can glue ruffled lace to the top of the bannner to decorate it, or use decorating items such as fabric flowers to pretty it up! And there's your finished burlap wedding banner!
